I know this is an old post, but I live in Montreal and have tried all of the restaurants you've named, so I wanted to chime in.

Did you ever end up going to La Chronique or Club Chasse et Peche? I would have to say that the food at La Chronique is slightly better, but Club Chasse et Peche has a slightly better atmosphere. You must try both!

Great post, Todd! Very pleasant to read, and very interesting. Out of all the restaurants you've mentionned, the only one that I am unfamiliar to is Mas Cuisine (Never been there, but I am planning to go there as soon as I get a moment). To each their own, but if I were you, I'd trade Otto or Newtown for one latest gem I've discovered earlier this month: Bistro Cocagne ( you can see my full review of that dinner at http://aromes.xanga.com/711358238/bistro-cocagn... ). Otto (for dinner only. Their breakfast is average) was just ok but I found Cocagne to be superior in terms of working out the tastes/savors/flavors of food. Newtown (latest 2 visits there happened last month) had left me on my appetite: I was a huge fan of Jetté and Demers back to their days at Laloux where I used to find them impeccable...but at Newtown, their food (they were cooking on both times I was there) pales compared to what they used to cook at Laloux (not bad, just not at the height of their talent). I suggest you put Club Chasse et Peche very high on your TDL (I don't know what's their secret..but dinner after dinner, they haven't yet managed to disappoint me..lol). I won't elaborate on APDC since I'm honestly not into that kind of fare (doesn't mean it's not good though) and would recommend that you add Bar&Boeuf on your watch list ;p Enjoy your soon-to-be-materialized stay in Montreal and if there's any question/or infos you want to ask/share, do not hesitate to flip me an email and I will be more than happy to respond with what I know. Sincerely, S Lloyd
